Using DimaxTool

DimaxTool is installed automatically with Didapi. It is the program used to create calibration files for Dimax 2, Dimax 3, and in older firmware Dimax 4 sensors.

The steps are the same no matter what unit type you have, ProLine, ProMax, or ProOne.

Using the Program

This is a Windows ONLY program, if the office is using MAC, a Windows PC must be present to do the calibrations using this program. To find it, if it's not in the start menu, it installs to the default Didapi directory. Typically found in C:\Program Files\Planmeca\Didapi\

This program shouldn't have to be run as an Administrator, but depending on the computer's permissions, it may need to be.

Setting Unit Type

To set your unit type, once the program is open, click Settings > Type > then select the appropriate unit that you're calibrating.

Setting Binning Type

Each shot in DimaxTool requires you to choose the binning manually. This can be done through Settings > Binning > then choosing the resolution for each shot. Ceph will not have a high resolution

Gathering Binning Values

Gathering Binning Values can be done from different pages on the wiki depending on unit type. You will need the sensor's serial number to verify your binning settings.

Shooting Calibration Files

Before you shoot any calibration files, you will want to clear the patient positioning area, no bitesticks, no temple support rods or adapters while taking a calibration shot. For the Ceph side, remember to remove the Nasion and the ear rods.

Pan calibration is done in two parts for each binning. One shot with radiation off, then the second with radiation turned on. DimaxTool will prompt you to do this each time. Make sure you change binning settings after each shot. It will not do it automatically.

Ceph calibration is done in one shot for each binning. Ensure the calibration hatchet is in the ear rod holder closest to the sensor, with the angled end pointing back towards the wall behind the unit. The rotational section of the ceph should be set to 0 degrees.

ProMax Pan / Ceph All Binnings

This feature is only available on Promax Units. You select your sensor type under Settings > KV and MA Settings. Then choose a preset. This will shoot all your binnings one after another, without having to touch the machine and manually change settings.
